The Story Behind the Painting This painting is called The Way We Belong because, to me, belonging isn’t just about where you come from—it’s about who walks with you, who lifts you up, and how you connect with the world around you. It’s about the people who make space for you, even when the path doesn’t feel clear.
While painting this piece, I kept thinking about how we all find our place in different ways. The circles remind me of safe places—times where I’ve felt supported, understood, or just happy. The flowing lines between them are like the paths we take in life—sometimes winding, sometimes bold—but always moving forward. They show how we grow through every experience and every connection we make.
I used bright colours and layers of dots to show how rich those moments can be. Even if we don’t know exactly where we belong at first, we can still find beauty in the journey. We can still create something meaningful, something that speaks without needing words.
This piece is a reminder that we’re all connected in different ways—and that there’s more than one way to belong.
This piece is painted on rolled canvas and will require professional stretching or framing before display.
